Wanna Manna?

I'm always pretty reluctant to go to Korean restaurants without a handy Korean friend, considering the population has not always been known for their hospitality of other ethnic groups within the City of LA....admittedly so, considering the majority of their businesses were destroyed during the riots many years ago. Manna is a few of the places my peeps and I frequent for all-you-can-eat meat and tons of condiments, none of which I know the official names of.

The setting is primarily outdoors with huge tents to cover the eating areas. Guests cook their own food on round grills at each table. The ingenous owners also attached ringers to each table, indicating which guests need to be tended to. With as many people that flow in and out of this place, those bells are a god send! I really love places that foster engaging conversations and dinner participation and Manna definitely does not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the noise from various dinner conversations fills the place, even if it's entirely outdoors. Most often, our party picks the thin and thick meat and the feast begins. I hate to think exactly how much meat we go through each time we're there but it's a pretty good value if you want to get down and dirty with the grill and the unlimited meat supply.

The service is sometimes less to be desired. Unless you can speak or look like you're Korean, you might not get the best service. I'm told that this is the situation in many Korean-owned businesses throughout LA. BUMMER! I tend to come back more often and spend way more money at places that give me the better service. The only other place that I usually give my money to and has herendous service is Slo-gun, our all time favorite Korean-owned sushi place near the Yolanda House.

Don't go there Manna than once a month, though. You don't want to expose yourself to the potential of gout more than you have to.
